Hundreds march in riot-stricken town

BENTON HARBOR, Mich., July 13 (UPI) --
About 250 marchers staged a peaceful protest in the Lake Michigan shoreline community that made national news during two nights of rioting last month.
The marchers chanted "No Justice, No Peace, No Racist Police," during the mile-and-a-half from Benton Harbor's City Hall to the Berrien County Courthouse in St. Joseph, The Herald-Palladium reported Sunday.
Prosecutors last week cleared police in the death of a motorcyclist that sparked the riots in Benton Harbor. Police had tried to stop the driver, who was clocked at over 100 mph.
Saturday's march was organized by the Black Autonomy Network of Community Organizations.
A BANCO spokesman called for the release of all those arrested during the riots, the removal of several judges from the local bench and a boycott of Whirlpool Corp.
Whirlpool announced Friday plans to move 100 jobs to its Benton Harbor plant after renovations next year.
